Biblical Teaching

The modern world has sprung many issues uncomfortable at best that has challenged traditionally held views and suppositions of the Bible. Some do regard the Bible as guidebooks, blueprint containing every possible experience in life or a manual to refer for advice on ‘how to do.’ While they may not be completely of the mark it is essential to realise what the Bible is and is not as a premise to understanding how biblical insight can help mould and shape people, communities and nations for the good.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 3:16 -17 (King James Version)

Take for instance the assumption that if it is not written in the Bible then it is because God does not have a view or is indifferent. The conclusion from such a view implies that what is not written in the Bible is permissible. Those inclined to this particular line of thinking it became a pretext to encourage for example certain sexual practices that would otherwise be off limit for a child of God.

The entrance of God's Word

The converse is true when the assumption above is takes a different slant and that is to say if it is not written in the Bible then it must be wrong for us to believe, practice or follow. This particular line of thinking has lead to certain Christian communities going underground and becoming a subculture within a main culture. We are not called out of the world but in the world only that we should not become of the world.

The brief examples illustrates the complexities facing the Christian world, which is why rightly dividing the Word of God is so crucial and critically important; if Christians are grow and be of any relevance in the face of hostility towards God; the impartation of the Word of God, must and should continue to challenge, provoke onto righteousness and transcend cultural trends and barriers ignorant attitude towards the LORD Jesus Christ.
